It may have been rather cool outside during the months of July and August, but inside here at Flix things have been hotting up nicely!

Flix's new dubbing theatre has had a very short breaking-in period. One of the very first people in was Britain's most successful ever football manager, Sir Alex Ferguson's voiceover for Morson was a fitting way to baptise our new setup. Dubbing mixer Hannah has hit the ground running re-versioning 52 episodes of 'Zigby' for the BBC. More re-versioning work is due later this month, so alongside all the regular voice-overs and programme mixes, it's busy busy busy. As well as the upgraded mixing studio we have also installed a separate Pro-Tools suite for track laying and pre-mixing with assistant dubbing-mixer (and all round 'top man') Robin at the helm.

In the cutting rooms 'Extraordinary People' starts this month. Kerry and Cat from Nine Lives have had continued success with this strand for channel five and are hoping that this new film, about the smallest girl in the world, will also be a hit.

BBC Religion celebrates Diwali with us this year with a 30min film by producer/director Mark Warburton. Handling all the post for this documentary, which will air as part of the Diwali Festival in mid-October, is a first for Flix, and if all goes well we hope it won't be the last.

Other projects coming our way this month are the international versions of the successful BBC Two HD documentaries 'Future of Food', a Panorama, a Dispatches, lots more corporate work and, of course, the much loved ONE Show.

The past two months have also been some of the busiest of 2009 for the CGI department. Our good friends over at Title Role came to us once again for graphics they required for the next instalment of their successful crime-related documentary strand. The Security Express Heist is an upcoming episode of the Britain's Biggest Heist series due to be shown on the Crime and Investigation and History channels. Nine Lives also required graphics for the next instalment in their acclaimed Murder In Suburbia series. Also returning were Unique Factuals to complete the graphics for their medical training video that will aid students in the process of inserting vascular access devices. The team have also completed various graphics for the editing team upstairs for shows such as the BBC's One Show. The corporate side has also continued apace with Set Visuals completed for clients such as Fisher/BMW. The team also created a multitude of logo and aston designs for clients such as Morson. After a quiet few months on the children's animation front several exciting projects are looming on the horizon and the team will hopefully soon be returning to their roots...

Finally, we say a fond farewell and good luck to Anna and Matt, both of whom leave us this month. Anna is leaving to pursue a career in teaching media, whilst Matt is taking a well-earned break from editing to travel the globe. They will both be greatly missed!
