March 2009 Newsletter

The start of the New Year saw Flix move their Chorlton facility into their Manchester city centre home, so all facilities are now conveniently located under one roof.

The last few months have been really busy at Flix. We continue to work hard making inserts for the BBC's flagship magazine programme The One Show and have provided offline services for other current affairs programmes like The Money Programme and Panorama. In offline this month is another of Extraordinary People's unique documentary series for Nine Lives Media. The World's Strongest Boy follows hard off the back of The World's Oldest Conjoined Twins and Britain's Tiniest Toddlers, and will be closely followed by their latest commission, The Man with Half a Body.

Our online and finishing team has had success with documentaries for FIVE - Extraordinary People, Channel 4 - Dispatches, BBC One and Two. In addition we have continued to work on two long series for the Crime and Investigation channel produced by Indies here in the northwest.

In the corporate world, we have worked with a variety of agencies to produce visual media for anyone from Adidas to the NHS.

The Dubbing Theatre has been continually booked up with mixing and voiceover sessions for our onlines, as well as ADR for ITV's Britannia High and BBC One's Survivors.

Flix has also been commissioned to complete the post production for 26x11 minute animation episodes for CBeebies.

The Flix CGI team have also been working hard the past few months creating work for a variety of medium. Their work from the Postman Pat SDS was featured in the November issue of 3D World magazine. In time for the pantomime season the CGI department created a variety of special effects for Aladdin starring Ray Quinn. Reviewed in the highly-acclaimed The Stage, it said "the show is swathed in a high production patina, including dazzling CGI effects." In the new year a series of graphic sequences were created for a one-off documentary for BBC One, Catching Britain's Biggest Thieves. As well as a multitude of other documentary graphics, a variety of corporate graphics have been produced for events such as the prestigious Hi-Life Dining Awards held in January as well as being commissioned to produce both the filming and graphic elements for a host of Regional Business Awards and the Liverpool Best Of Awards. DVD authoring and flash presentations have also been plentiful, as has producing informative, engaging videos for an international online encyclopaedia.

Finally, we are putting the finishing touches to a brand new Flix CGI website which will showcase the work of the graphics team.
